Mujaji is one of the oldest dragon boat racing clubs in South Africa and is named after the Rain Queen, a dragon that is said to look like a great feathered serpent and who sometimes lives on Table Mountain.

Initially paddling as an enthusiastic Safmarine corporate team in the 2nd Cape Town International in 1996, the paddlers formed the Safdragons club in 1998.   This name was changed to Mujaji in 2004 in time for the Club Crew World Championship (CCWC), Cape Town

Mujaji's home is in Cape Town's V&A Waterfront at the foot of Table Mountain in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Known for our welcoming friendliness, we nonetheless enjoy good hard paddling ....

Our paddlers have participated in Internationals and World Championships in Hong Kong, Macau, Nottingham, Rome, Poznan, Prague, Singapore, Penang, Taipei and in numerous cities in China (including YueYuan, Sanshui, Beijing, Huangzhou, Xaimen, Miluo, Nanning, Zhaoqing, Zhanjiang, Shauguan and Guangzhou), and fun events such as the Venetian Vogalonga and the first dragonboat crossing to Robben Island.

Park: in the Battery Parking of the V&A Waterfront   Click here for a map

Meet: in front of the Marina Centre on the south side of the Cape Grace Hotel.

Wear: lycra shorts and a reasonably close-fitting top, shoes that can get wet.

Bring: a water-bottle and dry clothes for afterwards

Paddling fee: R50/month or R500/year, (Club membership = R220/annum)
